India ranks among the top producers and exporters of premium-quality ginger, known worldwide for its rich aroma, warm pungency, and high volatile oil and oleoresin content. Indian ginger is highly sought after in global markets for culinary use, herbal remedies, and the extraction of essential oils.
The dried rhizomes, commonly referred to as “Dry Ginger”, are pale brown to light beige in colour, with a fibrous texture and strong, spicy aroma. Ground ginger, made from dried rhizomes, is a fine, off-white to light brown powder with an intense flavour profile.
Premium Indian Varieties available :
Cochin Ginger (Calicut Ginger) – Pale brown, high volatile oil content, preferred for extraction
Nadia Ginger – Fibrous rhizomes, bold flavour, ideal for culinary use and powder processing
